Getting ready for a dumpster delivery

A little preparation before delivery day goes a long way. Most of it is straightforward, and none of it requires special equipment.

Pick a spot with room to spare

Look for a flat area with clear access for a truck, and enough room around it to load comfortably. Driveways are the usual choice, but any firm, level surface can work. Overhead lines and low branches are worth checking too.

Clear the way

Move vehicles, bins, and anything else out of the delivery path before the scheduled day. If a gate needs to be open or a code shared, having that ready avoids delays.

Think about the surface

Heavy containers can mark softer surfaces. If the spot is a new driveway or a surface you are keen to protect, it is worth mentioning when you ask for an estimate so that can be discussed in advance.

Check local rules early

If the container would sit on a street, sidewalk, or shared area rather than your own property, local rules may apply. It is worth checking that before delivery day, since requirements can vary by location.

Have your details ready

The details that help most are the same ones an estimate is built on: what the project is, the main type of debris, where you are, the date you need it, and how long you expect the project to run. Sharing those up front makes the whole process smoother.
